Metrohm Singapore’s Team Bonding and Barbecue Session
On the 21st of August 2018, which was the eve of Hari Raya Haji, a public holiday in Singapore, Metrohm Singapore decided to end work slightly earlier and dress down to have some fun at the bowling alley. A chalet was also booked so we could enjoy a great barbecue dinner after the bowling fun.
At the bowling alley, there was a keen fight between teams of quick-acting «Cobras», elegant «Giraffes», sharp «Hawks», amiable «Sheeps» and adorable «Squirrels», all vying for the top prize of the tournament. Tim, the vice president of Global Finance and Group Controlling at Metrohm International Headquarters, together with his wife, joined the game. Tim was on his way to a meeting in Kuala Lumpur and had a stop-over in Singapore. From the look of it, they were enjoying the game as much as we did.
The rattling from these 5 groups of «Animals» filled the otherwise quiet bowling hall (it was still working hours). Amidst the battle, laughter was heard and triumphant cheers were echoed whenever all 10 pins fell at any of the lanes. After an hour and a half of (not so) gruesome fight, team «Sheep» emerge victorious and took home the top honors.
We then proceeded to our chalet, which was just next to the bowling center. Most of us were exhausted after the sessions of bowling. Luckily, some cooked food was already prepared and waiting for us, so we could indulge straight away to fill our empty stomachs.
When most of us were still eating, some volunteers went to start the fire for the barbecue and prepared some yummy food. There were chicken wings, sausages, lots of seafood and satay (which are chicken or mutton skewers).
While our volunteers were handling the barbecue, the rest of us got to chill and drink. And we had a little singing session in the chalet. We brought the karaoke system to the chalet ourselves—hopefully, we were not too loud and did not disturb our neighbors.
Having to work, bowl and barbecue on the same day was indeed a long and tiring day for us. But from all the smiles and laughter, we know we have all enjoyed the bonding session and look forward to many more to come in future.
